Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)
Training Cancelled Sat 2nd June
Hi guys.
Training will be cancelled at BJJ Herts this Saturday 2nd June due to the London Open competition being held at the Seni exhibition at the Excel.
I will ask and see how many people want to train on Bank Holiday Monday 4th June before deciding if we are going to run a class or not.

Cheers
Stuart.

Professor Arlans and stripe night
Last night Professor Arlans visited BJJ Herts to teach the class.
He taught some open gaurd techniques which the guys picked up very well.
At the end of the class there was around 45 mins sparring in which Professor Arlans rolled with most of the class.
Also at the end we had some stipes given to the following students.

Cyril
Simon
Martin
Joe
Arlans commented how impressed he was with the progress everyone is making.
Continue the good work guys and there will soon be more stripes on the way.

Keep rolling :-)

British Open
You may or may not have heard but some of the Arlans Siqueira BJJ team went to Birmingham this past weekend to compete in the British Open.
Of the 6 that competed they returned with the following results.

Dave Oakes - SILVER
Tadeusz - SILVER
Johnathon Mallaburn - SILVER
Duncan Mallaburn - SILVER
Anthony Harvey - SILVER
Hafiz was very unfortunate in his fight and lost narrowly to the eventual GOLD medal winner.

Well done Dave for his 1st medal at purple belt in only his 2nd time competing at purple.
5 medals from 6 competitors is an excellent return. Well done to all the guys that competed.
Arlans was very pleased with the performance of the team.

Once again, well done everyone.

Welsh Open Results
This past weekend 11 of the team went to Cardiff to compete in the Welsh Open.
Out of the 11 the team returned with 5 medals which were won by the following:

Jonathon Mallaburn : GOLD
Paul McCauley : SILVER
Hafiz-ul Islam : SILVER

Duncan Mallaburn : BRONZE
Kasun Herath : BRONZE
The rest of the team, Dave Oakes (1st time competing at purple belt), Nishan Khednah, Richard Miranda (1st time competing at blue belt), Daniel Ekechi (1st time competing), Dominique Mondesir (2nd comp after only 7 months training) and Stu Anderson all fought well but unfortunately did not medal on this occassion.

There were some fantastic fights from the guys so well done everyone, especially the medal winners.
Also big thanks to Proffesor Arlans for the coaching and James Mallaburn for his assistance with the guys throughout the day.

Roll on the next competition where hopefully we can take an even bigger number of competitors.
Wrestling class
Just to let you all know this Monday 16th April it will be a wrestling class at BJJ Herts (7.30-9.30).
BJJ class will be on Thursday 19th April (7.45-9.45).

This is just for this week as our wrestling coach Ian cannot make it on Thursday.
Also good luck to all the guys competing this weekend at the Welsh Open. I’m sure everyone will fight well and fight hard. Hopefully there will be some medals to show for everyones efforts.

Have a good weekend.
